Recognition from overseas. The prestigious US wine magazine "Wine Enthusiast" traditionally publishes its "top lists" of exceptional wines at the end of the year, and the "Enthusiast 100" is considered internationally, as well as by the WE editors, as "the big one". Anton Bauer's 2014 Pinot Noir Wagram is there among the best 45 wines, with 93 out of 100 points. About the ranking, the vintner says, "The fact that my Pinot Noir placed so wonderfully in the Wine Enthusiast is particularly pleasing because Pinot Noir is my absolute favorite variety."

In total, the list includes 100 outstanding wines from 15 countries, which will be perfect to drink in the coming years and which also have a very good price/performance ratio.

Domestic Awards. Anton Bauer's winemaking skills are appreciated at home as well. At the recent Falstaff Red Wine Gala, his Merlot Reserve Limited Edition was ranked 5th, and his Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Limited Edition ranked 6th, with 92 points each. Both wines are from the 2014 vintage.

Even better rated were the 2013 Blaufränkisch Reserve Limited Edition with 93, and the Cuvée Legendär of the same vintage, with 94 points. "I am of course particularly proud of the Falstaff awards, because recognition in my own country is simply the best," says Anton Bauer, who is known for his passion for red wine. Early in his life, he was at first laughed at by many when he set his sights on red grape varieties in addition to the Wagram classics like Grüner and Roter Veltliner or Riesling. Success has proven him right.

The Winery. Anton Bauer took over the parental estate in Wagram in 1992 with just 3.2 hectares of vineyards, and today the quality fanatic cultivates around 30 hectares of vineyards in Feuersbrunn. His most important single site vineyards are Rosenberg, Spiegel, Berg and Gmörk, and his top white wine is the Grüner Veltliner Grande Reserve.

The Wine Enthusiast. Founded in 1988, the Wine Enthusiast is one of the leading wine magazines in the USA. With its online portals, newsletters and the print edition, today it reaches 2.3 million wine lovers all over the world. The magazine alone has nearly 800,000 readers. Anton Bauer's Pinot Noir was rated by Anne Krebiehl MW.
